5. Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven” may not be entirely theirs….
“Stairway to Heaven” is possibly the most famous song by Led Zeppelin; however, the famous riff that we all identify with Zeppelin probably is not theirs. The opening of the guitar in “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin and “Taurus” by Spirit are EXTREMELY similar. “Taurus” predates “Stairway” for four years and the bands did some concerts together where “Taurus” was performed before “Stairway”. Then Robert Plant may have decided to take some or all of the Taurus chords to play his famous riff.
