Unfortunately, we do not have good news for who want to a Van Halen Reunion. Because, Sammy Hagar does not wan to. Sammy Hagar said in a interview ‘he fears getting touch with Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen’, because he does not want them to think he wants to return to the band.
Sammy said: “I’m afraid if I came in and really tried to contact Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, they would think I’d be trying to get back in the band or try to make a meeting.”
“And I’m not, I’m very happy with The Circle, we played the Van Halen songs that I wrote with Eddie Van Halen, as well as with anyone, but I’m happy to have only five or six Van Halen songs on my set.”
“I do not want to be asked to do this because I feel like I have to, but I really do not want to. I’m sorry, no.”
Sammy Hagar replaced David Lee Roth, recording four studio albums between 1985 and 1995.
Recently, Michael Anthony said that he is currently Sammy Hagar’s bandmate at The Circle, said he was contacted a while ago, but they never called him back about the Van Halen meeting.
He said:
“They were gonna try to plan a thing for this summer. And for whatever reason… I was never… My people were never… They never got in touch with us about any kind of a contract or any kind of a meeting to discuss or whatever. And the next thing I knew, the plug got pulled on it.”
“I spoke with [Van Halen’s manager] Irving Azoff last October — that’s when I first heard from him — and he asked if I would be interested in any kind of a reunion, and I told him, I said, ‘Yeah.’ I was finishing up a couple of shows with Sammy and I said, ‘Yeah, I’d be interested to hear what you guys have going on.’”
“I never heard a call back. And then, right after the first of the year, I got… [singer] David Lee Roth’s, Dave’s business manager or lawyer, or something, got ahold of me about a meeting or something. And so at that point, I gave it over to our manager, because I didn’t wanna start getting in this whole thing — I wanted to do it the correct way, especially after the way things went for me in 2004.”
