The legendary leader of Puscifer and Tool, Maynard James Keenan, made a new interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music Beats 1, and honestly admitted that he is not a farmer at all.

“I moved here in ’90, I ran screaming in ’95. A lot of temptation, a lot of education. Being in a small town, of course, like I said, every character’s represented in a town like Los Angeles. It’s, of course, exponentially larger. When you’re not important and you’re not a target, you’re able to sit back and observe the hunt as it were in the small clubs, in the big clubs.
It was pretty inspiring to watch the vampires come out at night looking for the fresh blood. There’s no problem at all, you guys should all should hang out here. Just dig in and everything’s going to be fine. Everything’s going to be fine. Just stay where you are.”
Zane Lowe:
“Is some part of you, even just a little part of you, a survivalist to a degree?”
Maynard James Keenan:
“I wouldn’t call myself a homesteader. Although I worked with one this harvest. Growing up in Michigan we knew where our water was coming from, we knew we were growing our own food. You had to get the snow out of the way to get to work. There are things you had to do to survive. I don’t think you have that a lot in places like the larger cities.
You don’t really understand where this tomato came from. People in Los Angeles are like, “What are you doing? You can buy that.” What happens when you can’t buy that? What do you do then? You turn into zombies. This is all depressing. Let’s go back to Taylor Swift.”
