2. Brain Damage/Eclipse (1973)
Merging themes that spanned his entire career – mental fragmentation (particularly Syd Barrett), reminiscence and loss – the sound of the guitar and the voice of the children’s song reflects the repetitive behavior of the institutionalized. The uninterrupted transition to the stimulating end of Eclipse set the bar on the road to excluding an idea (or indeed any) album. In no way has it been improved.
